ICTORY

We also utilize a Trauma Informed Model of Care which recognizes the impact that trauma has on our lives and our emotional and mental well-being.  We recognize the significant affect that trauma has on a person's neurological, biological, psychological, and social development.

Lastly, our approach to therapy is Holistic.  A Holistic Approach to mental and emotional health considers a person's overall well-being, including their physical, emotional, social, and spiritual health, rather than just their mental health needs or symptoms. This approach recognizes that many factors can affect mental and emotional health, and that a person's path to recovery is influenced by culture, gender, age, and life experiences.  Your treatment will be based on your needs and will take into consideration all of the aspects that make you who you are.

Patient Portal & Initial Paperwork:

At the time that your first appointment is scheduled, you will be emailed an invitation to our secure patient portal.  There you will complete all paperwork and sign consent forms.  You will also complete a client history form and some screening forms on the portal which will give your provider additional information about you prior to your appointment.  The secure patient portal is also where you will provide payment authorization, conduct video therapy sessions, manage your appointments and message your provider.

Assessment:

The first step in the therapeutic process is a thorough assessment.  This collaborative process will begin with your completion of the paperwork on the patient portal which includes screening tools and a history form.  I will review all of those items prior to our first meeting.  The process continues when we met for the first time for 90 minutes.  I will gather a lot of important information such as the history with the issues you want to change, your vision and goals, what has kept you from reaching your goals in the past, and any past successes you've had that we can draw from.  We will meet a second time during the assessment process for 60 minutes.  During this session we will review your goals and create a holistic plan for your recovery. We will also make a plan for our sessions including frequency, duration, and a good faith estimate for treatment.  Once this process is complete, you can go onto the patient portal to see appointment availability and schedule your sessions.  Occasionally a person may present with issues in the assessment process that are not appropriate for video mental health therapy.  This person may be better served with a different type of treatment.  The clinician will be honest with you if this is the case and make useful suggestions for further care outside of our services that would be more helpful for you.

Treatment:

During your therapy sessions, we will use a combination of education and awareness, cognitive interventions, and mindfulness techniques to help you find solutions to the issues holding you back.  You will learn new coping skills and strategies for making the change you want in your life.  You will have a supportive place to process your feelings, to heal and to move forward.  Treatment will be individualized for your needs and your goals.  Relevant articles, handouts and at home work will be given during treatment to help you in this process.  Your treatment will be collaborative.  We will work together to find solutions to the challenges that are keeping you from the happiness you deserve.

Appointment Reminders:

Automatic appointment reminders are offered as a courtesy.  Email reminders will go out approximately 48 hours prior to your appointment and text reminders go out approximately 24-hour notice.  Ultimately it is your responsibility to keep track of your appointments and to be respectful of your provider and the time they set aside for you.  Fees will apply if you do not cancel your appointment in a timely manner.  Please see Treatment Fees for more information on late cancellation fees.  You are also responsible for providing current accurate contact information so we can get those appointment reminders to you.

Video Therapy:

Providers offer video therapy sessions for North Carolina and Virginia residents.  Heal Your Zen PLLC utilizes a secure HIPAA compliant platform (Patient Portal) to conduct these video sessions which you can access on your computer, tablet, or smart phone.

Other Communication:

Heal Your Zen PLLC offers secure messaging through the patient portal through Simple Practice.  You can access this service when you create an account on the patient portal.  An invitation will be sent by your provider once you have scheduled your first appointment.

Attendance:

Change is difficult to accomplish without consistency.  The more consistent you are in attending therapy sessions, the more likely it is that you will be successful in the change/improvement you want to make.  That is why it is so important that you make the commitment to yourself to attend each appointment and make this self-improvement a priority.  This is accomplished by keeping track of your appointments, setting reminders and not scheduling other tasks or appointment at the same timeframe.  If you do need to cancel or change a session, 48 hours notice is required, fees apply.  Please see Treatment Fees for more information about cancelling or changing appointments and the fees related to late cancellations and appointment changes.

Planning for Safety:

Heal Your Zen PLLC cares about the safety of our clients.  Safety and trust are the cornerstones of mental health treatment.  As part of your assessment, we'll create a plan in the event that our clinician becomes concerned about your safety.  The plan will include who we should contact and what steps you would like us to take to keep you safe.  This will be a collaborative process as much as possible while also following state law and the code of ethics for our profession.
