As a person with 25 years of long-term recovery, I know first-hand the amazing transformation that can happen when a person is ready for change.  My own journey of recovery gives me a unique perspective on the therapeutic process and a genuine understanding of the journey of transformation and self-discovery.

 

I embarked on my quest to help others when I was accepted into the clinical MSW program at the University of North Carolina Wilmington in 2006.  After graduation in 2008, I worked on an Assertive Community Treatment Team and, in 2009, was an instrumental part of forming a new practice serving those most in need in the community.  I went on to create and secure funding for a Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Program (SAIOP) specifically designed to help individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use issues.  In 2011, I began my own private practice and have been practicing there for nearly 14 years.  In 2016, I was also asked to develop and implement another Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Program (SAIOP) for a recovery housing system in our area.

 

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in North Carolina and Virginia, and a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist in the state of North Carolina.
